'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he remembers the dramatic dying seconds of Swansea's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith briefly donning a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a powerful effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly slammed home the loose ball before racing off toward the home end to revel in the moment, with fans congregating around the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result completed an unbelievable turnaround given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. During the delirium, there was some unintended consequences. He shared, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

The victory booked a fourth-round game at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. The athletic midfielder had an excellent perspective when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's volley from about long distance going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that range," stated Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right wing-back after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with Jack Grealish, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the Manchester squad who praised the way the underdogs attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are very good but even the basics and basic skills, they can just execute repeatedly," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're all right and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It takes a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He established himself as a fans' favourite across two seasons at his former club and has swiftly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at Doncaster from Old Trafford. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into professional soccer. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without serious challenge. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

He has shown that maturation for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, offered the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he manipulates the ball and his knack for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

His single match for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a European competition trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the stadium roof was closed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a extended travel and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The preceding week, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it got to the point where I thought I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play professional soccer. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the early part of the afternoon at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a driving theory test, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a team vehicle driven by club employees, the transport team, which ferries players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, another squad member, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the teammates but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. Franco likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on the Tube after commuting at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
